Is it time to fully switch to solar energy?

A lot of people ask questions about the world and how we can fix it. The world is slowly crumbling right before our eyes do to pollution, exhaust and waste. Fossil fuels like coal and gas are burned relinquishing waste into our atmosphere. But now that technology has increased when need to lean away from fossil fuels and start new with the technology of solar energy.

Humans now have the ability to create renewable energy through solar panels. New Hampshire agrees with my thesis, they recently realized this. “Members of the state’s Congressional delegation announced Monday (December 2) that $1.9 million in federal grant money is headed to New Hampshire to fund research projects aimed at advancing solar technology”(Feely).

\With all this money coming in to the state, they have a great opportunity to lean more toward solar energy and be more confident in the reliance on solar. In recent years, all this talk about the environment is making humans scared and having them scramble for what energy source is the best for the checklist. Solar right now doesn't meet everyone's standards. But with new advancements in technology It could surplus our expectations and be the most reliable energy and the safest for our environment .

Another very important piece of information that Feely supplied was about what advancements are they trying to improve specifically. He states,“The DOE will also award $700,000 to Hampton’s Brayton Energy to support research designed to improve heat exchangers — critical for the cooling of solar-thermal power plants to withstand mechanical stress”(Feely). This will make solar more safe and reliable and will also allow it to last longer and not fuze out over time.

But it's not just New Hampshire. All over the united states and other countries like Spain and Canada have invested in solar energy and the technology and money combine came up with the idea of batteries. These batteries are allowing renewable energy to be more consistent and overall saving thousands of dollars for people. “This is not just a California, New York, Massachusetts,” says Kelly Speakes-Backman, CEO of the Energy Storage Association, an industry group in Washington. She says more than 30 states have renewable storage on the grid. Utilities have proposed and states have approved 7 gigawatts to be installed by 2030 (Niiler).

As our technology advances it allows us to put more money into advancing items that will support us in the future and that's exactly what solar does for us. It helps us receive jobs and save the environment. My hope is that one day solar and renewable energy in general will be more than the average energy supply we need.

  1. Do you think that our economy can afford this over time?

  2. Do you think that this is the future of energy? How can NH play a role in the green energy industry? I think that this is a good thing coming to NH, but what impact do you think it will have?

  3. Why isn't solar a reasonable option in NH right now? I'm also a little confused about your transition from solar on a global scale to the batteries. Are these solar batteries?

    1. I think that developing and advancing solar technology is better than rushing into using it right now. Once we get the ability to run completely on renewable energy, its time for solar to take over New Hampshire. Yes, solar batteries are increasing the about of energy being produced from solar power and saving people money all over the world.
