Is Social Media Addictive?

For most people, you wake up and get dressed and get maybe get breakfast and at the table most people have nothing better to do then to check their Twitter, Instagram and Snap-Chat. Social media is a huge part in people's lives on a daily basis and it leads to the questions. Is it addictive? Can people last without it? And who is most affected by social media? In a Ted talk I watched called “why you should quit social media” by Doctor Cal Newport he had some interesting statements. One of which really caught my eye. His concept with social media is “Like a slot machine on your phone.”(Newport). This example is very true in most cases. This is because designers and creators of social media purposely try to make you engaged and make social media as addictive as possible. Is Technology Making Humans Lazier?

Technology is constantly changing and evolving year by year. There are drones that deliver mail, robots who clean and vacuum on their own, and now Runaway automation popped into the mix recently. Every year, cars have slowly advanced and technology in cars are making it safer for people to cause less collisions that result in Injuries and death. But it's almost getting to that point where humans have to ask themselves if they are relying on too much technology. Relying on technology to be the main steerer when it comes to cars is a bad idea. The fear of a malfunction or a mistake in the technology can result in serious harm. In an article I read, (link) It had a survey ( Pew Research report ) That expressed the fear in automation. 72 percent US adults expressed their worries about self driving cars and the reliance of technology to be in the driver's seat.
