Is Technology Making Humans Lazier?

Technology is constantly changing and evolving year by year. There are drones that deliver mail, robots who clean and vacuum on their own, and now Runaway automation popped into the mix recently. Every year, cars have slowly advanced and technology in cars are making it safer for people to cause less collisions that result in Injuries and death. But it's almost getting to that point where humans have to ask themselves if they are relying on too much technology.

Relying on technology to be the main steerer when it comes to cars is a bad idea. The fear of a malfunction or a mistake in the technology can result in serious harm. In an article I read, (link) It had a survey (Pew Research report) That expressed the fear in automation. 72 percent US adults expressed their worries about self driving cars and the reliance of technology to be in the driver's seat. People aren't quite ready for the transition to the reliance of technology.

Picture of what a self driving car may look like.

As technology increases in the world it also affects people through and economic stand stand point. People like taxi drivers truckers maybe even collision auto mechanics and a vast amount of workers could lose their jobs to automotive increase of technology.

The same article showed stated that, ̈ Nearly 70 million people could lose their could lose their jobs due to the automation In 2030.¨(Dickenson) Which if you think about it, it is very crazy.  If self driving driving car are adapted into society, there is no need for these workers and would result in a rise in unemployment in America.

What is the need for self driving cars? I just don't think that the roads should be heavily dominated by self driving cars. I understand that technology is improving for the better and to make life easier on humans. It would be very cool to experience cars that are controlled like a toy and you don't have to even drive, but do you really trust technology enough to out your life in its hands? I fear that technology will be very heavily relied on by humans and ultimately become a necessity to humans. Technology has just proven the laziness of humans and there capabilities.

  1. Your question about what creates the need for self-driving cars is a good one, which you could trace a bit more. Why do people think they would be good? What specifics do you have that there are dangers with self-driving cars?

  2. I agree with you about most of this. Are there pros to self driving cars as well as cons? Do you think people will rely on self driving vehicles in the future?

    1. I think there is some pros when it comes to efficiency and less serious crashes but cons when it comes to the idea of malfunctions in the system. I think that because of the way humans act, they will rely more on technology because us humans tend to be lazy.
